Santo Domingo, capital of Dominican Republic, famous for its historic churches, fortresses, shopping malls, nightlife and nonstop music.
The Zona Colonial's historical eye-opening buildings and trendy boutiques, a modern strip of high-end restaurants and the welcoming attitude of the local residents are also the main cause to live in this wonderful town.
This is an incredibly urban city, an architectural structure from the colonial era, but also to hot clubs, vibrant cultural institutions and beautiful restaurants.
It is one of the most modern city which is rich with cultural and historical background. In the middle of the city, you will find the historical church “CATEDRAL PRIMADA DE AMÉRICA” and fortress “CATEDRAL PRIMADA DE AMÉRICA”.
There is something for everybody in Santo Domingo, shallow water beaches, huge underground caves and the city is surrounded by beautiful parks.
Places like Catuán Wreck, a shocking underwater spot for divers, beautiful reef gardens with lots of tiny fishes. Boca Chica, the seafront with beach clubs, restaurants and nightclubs. Calle El Conde, a shopping area, alongside historical buildings. Faro A Colón, Cross-shaped building. Columbus Lighthouse, where belongings of Christopher Columbus kept for visitors.
Also, Jardín Botánico Nacional, the largest botanical gardens in the Caribbean of 400 acres, lined with native trees of the island, various species of palms, flowers, more than 300 species of orchids, Japanese garden, with a manicured one. Museo De Las Casas Reals, Royal House Museum. The museum includes an insightful summary of the Dominican Republic's history from the colonial period in 1492 to the days of slavery and the first independence of the nation from Spain in 1821. You'll find displays on Columbus's various voyages, with replicas of his ships, a collection of period artifacts and weapons from the days.
The best option to move around the city is car rental, so you can enjoy the versatility of the city without any hazel. The train station is somehow far from the resorts and the car rental company provides interesting services to tourists and visitors.

The total rental price is good. I was forced to add an insurance for damages against third parties (144 € for 14 days). They said it was mandatory by law. I did not discuss too much because I was tired of traveling. For the rest: - Delivery OK - Car corresponding to the booking, clean and in good condition - Retire OK In summary, it would be better to know the mandatory expenses in advance (clearer initial contracts)
